1) Grado, “Isola del Sole”, è un’accogliente
e rinomata località balneare. Da molti anni migliaia
di turisti giungono da tutta Europa per trascorrere
le loro vacanze.
Circondata dal mare Adriatico è collegata alla
terraferma da un lungo rettilineo stradale e la si raggiunge
attraversando l’incantevole paesaggio lagunare.
2) Nei primi secoli d.C., durante la dominazione romana,
Grado era un importante porto marittimo per le navi
che dovevano raggiungere Aquileia ed il ritrovamento
della “Julia Felix” (nave da trasporto romana,
conservata nel Museo del Mare) testimonia il glorioso
passato della città. I numerosi mosaici venuti
alla luce sono esempio di raffinata eleganza delle abitazioni
di quel tempo.
3) Grado fu sede di un importante patriarcato, protetto
dall’imperatore bizantino. La basilica di Sant’
Eufemia divenne punto di riferimento per moltissimi
credenti, felici di riscoprire gli autentici valori
di spiritualità e di fede.
4) Dopo un periodo trascorso sotto la dominazione veneta,
Grado venne annessa all’impero Austriaco. In quegli
anni (fine ‘800 e primi ‘900) la città
e la sua spiaggia conobbero un periodo di grande importanza
diventando una delle località balneari più
famose dell’Adriatico.
5) Gli incantevoli paesaggi della sua laguna si possono
ammirare attraverso suggestive escursioni in barca,
a contatto con la natura ancora incontaminata.
6) Il fascino immutato del tempo lo si vive attraversando
le pittoresche calli e campielli di “Grado Vecchia”.
Le case del centro storico conservano le antiche tradizioni
marinare, tra i sapori della buona cucina e gli oggetti
di artigianato locale.
7) Poco distante dal centro storico si trova l’animato
e pittoresco porticciolo, situato nel cuore della città.
Attraverso il canale che lo collega alla laguna, i pescherecci
arrivano carichi di pesce fresco, preceduti da stormi
di gabbiani.
8) La spiaggia dorata, con i suoi ordinati e multicolori
ombrelloni, accoglie i turisti per il quotidiano appuntamento
con il sole ed i bagni in mare…
Grazie al delicato dislivello della spiaggia anche i
bimbi più piccoli possono bagnarsi in sicurezza
e tranquillità.
9) La “Città Giardino” offre ai bambini
la possibilità di immergersi nel fantastico mondo
dei giochi posizionati tra il verde dei prati e all’ombra
di profumati pini marittimi.
Gli adulti possono rilassarsi tuffandosi nelle piscine
del Parco Termale Acquatico situato poco distante.
10) Panoramiche e sicure piste ciclabili permettono
di raggiungere facilmente le profumate pinete che circondano
Grado.
11) La sera Grado si riempie di mille colori. I viali
della città si illuminano per la tradizionale
passeggiata tra le vetrine dei negozi e le invitanti
gelaterie e pizzerie del centro.
Luci soffuse si accendono nei viali alberati e nelle
calli della “Città Vecchia” invitando
a romantici incontri al chiaro di luna.
12) Grado, oggi, è anche meta di migliaia di
fedeli che si recano in preghiera sull’isola di
Barbana. Qui è situato un’importante santuario
dedicato alla Madonna.
Ogni prima domenica di luglio viene celebrata la “Festa
del Perdon” cui partecipano, in processione lungo
la laguna, le imbarcazioni dei pescatori gradesi.

1) Grado, bekannt als “Isola del Sole“, ist
ein gemütlicher und berühmter Seebadeort.
Tausende von Touristen kommen jedes Jahr von ganz Europa,
um ihre Ferien hier zu verbringen. Grado ist von dem
adriatischen Meer umgeben und ein gerader Weg verbindet
es mit dem Festland.
2) Während der römischen Herrschaft der ersten
Jahrhunderte n. Ch. war Grado ein wichtiger Seehafen
für die Schiffe, die Aquileia erreichen sollten.
Der römische Frachtschiff „Julia Felix“,
(„Museo del Mare“), und die zahlreiche Mosaike
sind Beispiele der wichtigen Rolle der Stadt jener Zeit.
3) Grado war Sitz eines wichtigen Patriarchs unter
der Schirmherrschaft des byzantinischen Kaisers. Die
Basilika von Sant’Eufemia wurde zum Anhaltspunkt
für viele Gläubigen.
4) Nach einer Periode unter der venetischen Herrschaft
wurde Grado dem österreichischen Reich annektiert.
Da erlebten die Stadt und der Strand wichtige Zeiten
und Grado wurde ein der berühmtesten Seebadeorte
des Adriatischen Meers.
5) Mit dem Boot kann man die zauberhaften Landschaften
der Lagune bewundern.
6) Durch die malerischen Gassen ,“calli“,
und Plätze, „campielli“ von Grado Vecchia
spürt man den unveränderten Charme der Zeit.
In der Altstadt kann man immer die typische Küche
und die Handelswerkprodukte finden.
7) Das Herz der Stadt ist ein lebhafter und malerischer
Hafen, nicht weit von der Altstadt. Ein Kanal verbindet
den Hafen mit der Lagune und die Möwen zeigen die
Ankunft der Fischkutter.
8) Jeden Tag gehen die Touristen an den Strand, um
sich zu sonnen und in Wasser zu baden.
Der flache Strand ermöglicht es auch den Kindern
sicher und ruhig zu baden.
9) Die „Città Giardino“ bittet den
Kindern tolle Kinderspiele im Grün der Wiesen und
im Schatten der duftenden Pinien. Die Erwachsenen können
sich in dem Thermalwasserpark nebenan entspannen.
10) Über den sicheren Panoramafahrradwegen kann
man leicht die duftenden Pinienwalder um Grado erreichen.
11) Am Abend füllt sich Grado mit tausend Farben.
Die Promenaden erleuchten sich für den Stadtbummel
entlang der Schaufenster, der einladenden Eisdielen
und Pizzerias. Kleine Lichter entzünden sich in
den Gassen der alten Stadt.
12) Heutzutage ist Grado das Ziel von Tausenden von
Gläubigen, die sich auf die Insel von Barbana begeben,
um zu beten, Da befindet sich eine wichtige Madonna
Wallfahrtskirche. Jeden ersten Sonntag im Juli nehmen
die Fischer mit ihren Wasserfahrzeuge an einer Prozession
der Lagune entlang teil.

1) Grado, called “Isola del Sole” is a welcoming
and famous seaside resort. For many years thousands
of tourists have been coming here from all over Europe
to spend their holidays. Surrounded by the Adriatic
Sea, it is linked to the land by a long straight road.
2) In the first century A.D. of the Roman Empire Grado
was an important harbour station for the ships heading
for Aquileia. The recently recovered Roman cargo ship
“Julia Felix”, cherished in the “Museo
del Mare”, and the many mosaics, models of the
refined elegance of those times, testify to the glorious
past of the town.
3) Grado was the centre of an important Patriarch guarded
by the Byzantine emperor. St. Eufemia’s Basilica
became a spiritual reference for a great number of believers,
keen to rediscover the true values of faith.
4) After a period under the Venetian rule, Grado was
annexed to the Austrian Empire. During that time (end
of the 19th , beginning of the 20th century) the town
and its beach became one of the most famous seaside
resorts of the Adriatic.
5) The delightful landscapes of its lagoon can be better
enjoyed by boat on a suggestive trip along the canals
amid the untapped nature.
6) The unaffected charm of time can be experienced
in the small lanes, “calli”, and small squares,
“campielli” of Grado Vecchia, the old town.
The houses of the historical centre treasure the ancient
maritime traditions, the flavours of the delicious cuisine
and the handicrafts.
7) Not far from the historical centre there is the
lively and picturesque small harbour. Flights of seagulls
announce the arrival of the fishing boats through the
canal linking the harbour to the lagoon.
8) The golden beach welcomes the tourists coming every
day to bask in the sunshine and do some sea bathing.
The gentle slope of the beach dips gradually into the
water, so that even little children can bathe in safety
and tranquillity.
9) The “ Città Giardino” is a wonderful
area where children can play with the games scattered
all around the green grass in the shade of scented maritime
pines. Adults, on the other hand , can relax in the
diving pools of the spa water theme park.
10) Scenic and safe cycling tracks allow the scented
pinewoods surrounding Grado to be easily reached.
11) In the evening Grado fills with a thousand colours.
The boulevards light up for the traditional walk past
the shop windows, the inviting ice-cream parlours and
the pizzerias. The soft lighting of the tree-lined avenues
and especially the small lanes, the so-called “calli”,
in the old part of the town induce romantic meetings
in the moonlight.
12) Nowadays Grado is a target for thousands of believers
too, going to the shrine dedicated to the Virgin Mary
on Barbana Island. Each first Sunday of July the fishermen
celebrate the “Festa del Perdon” with their
boats in procession along the lagoon.
