1) Quando i soldati romani giunsero ad Aquileia per
prima cosa tracciarono il perimetro della città
con un profondo solco.
2) Aquileia divenne una fedele colonia dell'Impero
romano.
3) Grazie al suo porto sviluppò notevoli traffici
commerciali.
4) Aquileia diventò un'importante città,
aperta ad ogni cultura...
5) ... ma subì, nel 452, una violenta distruzione
dal feroce barbaro Attila.
6) La fede cristiana, ben sviluppata tra gli abitanti,
non fu cancellata dalla furia degli invasori.
7) Ad Aquileia furono costruiti grandi edifici per
accogliere in preghiera i tanti fedeli...
8) ... e la Basilica rappresenta, senza dubbio, l'esempio
più evidente.
9) Al suo interno si possono ammirare splendidi mosaici
come la famosa scena del Gallo e Tartaruga...
10) ... o simbologie dalle forme geometriche bellissime
e ricche di significati profondi.
11) Per testimoniare l'importante storia di Aquileia,
nei Musei sono raccolte preziose opere d'arte...
12) ... o passeggiando lungo le strade cittadine, si
possono ammirare le splendide colonne del Foro romano.

1) Als die romischen Soldaten nach Aquileia kamen,
zogen sie als Stadtgrenze eine tiefe Furche.
2) Aquileia wurde eine treue Siedlung des römischen
Kaiserreiches.
3) Dank ihrem Flusshafen entwickelte sie sich zu einem
bedeutenden Handelszentrum.
4) Aquileia wurde eine wichtige, reiche und eine für
jede Kultur offenstehende Kaiserstadt...
5) ... aber im Jahre 452 n.Chr. wurde sie vom wilden
barbarischen Attila zerstört.
6) Der christliche Glaube, der sich tief unter ihren
Bewohnern verbreited hatte, wurde vom wilden Angreifer
aber nicht ausgelöscht.
7) In der Stadt wurden geräumige Kultsäle
aufgebaud, wo sich die vielen Gläubigen zum Beten
versammelten...
8) ... und die heutige Basilika ist ohne Zweifel ihr
auffälligstes Beispiel.
9) In der Basilika kann man prächtige Mosaiken
bewundern, wie z.B. die berühmte Szene des Hahnes
und de Schildkröte...
10) ... oder auch noch geometrisch wunderschöne
Sinnbildern.
11) Zeichen und Bewise der wichtigen Geschichte Aquileias
sind die in ihren Museen aufbewahrten wertvollen Kunstwerke...
12) ... und wenn man durch die Strassen des römischen
Orts spazieren geht, kann man auch noch die herrlichen
Säulen des römischen Forums bewundern.

3) Thanks ti its fluvial harbour it developed a considerable
trading activity.
4) Aquileia became an important rich town and it was
open to all cultures...
5) ... but in 452 it was violently destroyed by the
crudel barbarian Attila.
6) The Christian faith was deeply rooted among the
inhabitants and it couldn't be suppressed by the fury
of the invaders.
7) In Aquileia some big halls were built to receive
many people in prayer...
8) ... and the Basilica undoubtedly represents the
most outstanding example.
9) In its interior you can admire some splendid mosaics
like the famous scene of the cock ant the tortoise...
10) ... or wonderful geometrical symbols with deep
meanings full of rich.
11) In Aquileia's museums there ar of precious works
of art which its important history...
12) ... or, if you walk along Aquileia's roads, you
can admire the beautiful columns of the Roman forum.
